Minutes of GWLL meeting March 11, 2009

Called to order by Don Cabrera at 6:46PM

There was nobody present for the public portion. Don closed public portion and board convened the close door session.

Excused absence Gary Robinson and Troy Cawley

Minutes of previous meeting Feb. 11, 2009 were read and accepted

Tami presented Treasurers report:

$19,765.47 Balance in GWLL account

Treasurer’s report was approved

Minor League Report

Tom Hunt and Dan DeMaio presented Mangers for 2009 season:

• Michael Sgrignioli
• Tom Hunt
• Shirley Di Guglielmo
• Normand Steward
• Billy Rutherford
• Dominic Locantore

Minors League managers all approved contingent on completed back round checks

Major 9-12 age group managers were read by Dan:

• Sal Zampirri
• Dan DeMaio
• Dave Bannon
• Brad Vodges
• Gary Hans
• Don Cabrera

All Major League managers were approved by board approved contingent on completed back round checks

Motion on table:
GWLL board asking for special rule to have 11 and 12 year olds must move up to Majors and cannot be in minor league.
Vote passed to have 11 and 12 year olds play in Majors only.

Schedule of leagues:

Softball– Monday and Friday—Morey field; Wed–Higbee
Jr. Softball 5pm Saturday at Higbee field
Major’s baseball–Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri., Sat
Minor League–Tues, Wed, Thurs, — Morey, and 8th st Field.
Make up dates Saturday for all teams

Dan will be master scheduler for Softball and Baseball for practices and games.

(April 25th opening day)
Tami will ask John Lynch to throw out first ball and John will ask Jordan Regalbuto

Higbee field will need 2 weeks time frame for new sod to take root. Infield mix has been put in.

Crest memorial is available after 6pm for practices. It was suggest that maybe teams could warm up deep in the outfield since field is so large?

Don reported that batting cages will be started this weekend or week following this weekend.

Umpire training will be Sunday, March 29th by Bill Scull at Crest Pier 12 to 3pm.

Snack bar –Jeanine says we now have some permanent workers at snack bar will start working on schedule.

Need for minor league equipment. Dan and Tom will go through with existing equipment to see if it can be used for minor league

All Jr. League managers and coaches were approved by board contingent on completed back round checks

All scores must be E-mail to Brian Cuniff before Sunday.

Before a players picture goes into newspaper consent form must be signed by parent of the participant.

Kim motioned to do away with the Softball special GWLL continuous batting order rule and to use rules as set forth in Little League softball handbook.

Motion passed by unanimous decision.

In 2008 junior league had to wear face masks when batting. Now must wear facemask or parent must sign waiver.

Voted and approved by board.

Tami presented new letter head and it was reviewed and approved by board. We will have 500 copies made up

Board discussed the number of registrants whom were unable to pay this years registration fees. It was recommended that a letter be sent to the registrants asking for a donation or service time to assist the continued running of our organization. A letter will be drafted and sent. It was also noted that some registrants mentioned they would pay later in the season and others have volunteered for the many activities that are run as an organization

Next meeting will be April 14th 8th at 6PM at Crest Pier.
