Minutes of GWLL 11-12-2008

Called to order 6:12pm by Don Cabrera

Minutes of October meeting were accepted by board.

$1,744 balance in treasury was presented by Tami Bradley and was accepted by board

Complaints on Softball Fall program means that we have to make some changes in criteria before we select fall ball teams for 2009. Dan, Kim and Don will work on that before next fall ball season.

Registration will include Football Mania Tickets—Dan DeMaio will complete application in early December. Dan and Troy will follow it to assure tickets are received before registration.

Policy on Softball and Baseball field use:

Need for master scheduler required.

Jeanine volunteered to handle that program.

Dan, trying to obtain use of 8th st. field for softball and minor league baseball.

Also trying to obtain use of Margaret Mace field for minor league baseball.

March 14 tentative baseball tryout period.

Season opening day, tentative, April 25th.

Pictures: Pam will handle obtaining photographer.

Field maintenance-Don said borough doing maintenance on Higbee.

Batting cage work will require additional funding through donations or fundraisers.

Don reported on fundraiser “Battle of the bands” at Bolero March 6th.

Need to get word out on this fundraiser

Night games—discussed a need to bring in parents to a meeting to discuss this possible date Feb. 11th

Don to develop a fact sheet as to why it is necessary to have night games.

Troy need to know what cost of one call system is agreed great system.

Snack bar procedures—still undecided how we will handle it. We have put this off

till further discussions have been had.

Don will work with Troy on Newsletter and it possibly will go out with registration forms.

New scoreboard from Crest Fire Company?

Suggested that we write to all local fire departments for donations.

We will request donations for batting cages, scoreboard and field improvements. Letter should mention that they will dully be noted for their generous donations and continued support. We are looking for donations towards our goal of $10,000.

Team sponsors letters and signs go out in January.

Signs $350.00.

Board acknowledged that we need to improve our minor league and tee ball system. Dan will have meetings with 2008 minor league and tee ball coaches to discuss upcoming 2009 season before next meeting.

Nicole will send Don and Dan the demographics of last year’s registration and possible numbers going into next season. This will provide a preliminary study of how we can possibly reorganize for 2009.
